GAINESVILLE
AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY, INC.
A. The Gainesville Amateur Radio Society, Inc.(hereafter “Society”) MOST OUTSTANDING AWARD was inaugurated by its members to show appreciation, to offer proper recognition and to award a trophy befitting the distinction of MOST OUTSTANDING to a qualified member of this organization.
A. To be eligible for this award a member must:
1. Be in good standing with the Society.
2. Hold a valid amateur radio license.
3. Have performed some form of unselfish activity which could be classified as outstanding and which would be for the betterment of fellow man. This unselfish act is not restricted to amateur radio, electronics or any other associated field of endeavor.
4. Must be recommended in writing by a person or persons other than himself, offering sufficient reason proof it required, why the nominee should receive this award.
A. The MOST OUTSTANDING trophy shall remain the property of the Society.
B. The trophy will be awarded for a period of one year.
C. The winner of the award will be determined as follows:
1. The President of the Society will appoint the Chairperson for the Award Committee.
2. The appointed Chair will select a minimum of Two Society members in good standing, to serve on the Committee.
3. No member may serve on this committee if he is nominated for the award.
4. Should the Chair be a nominee for the award the President will appoint a new Chairperson.
5. Should a member of the committee be nominated for the award, he/she will be excused and a new committee member will be appointed by the Chair.
6. The Chairperson of the Committee will receive all written recommendations for the award and will be reviewed by the committee after a predetermined deadline set by the Committee Chair.
7. Anyone who has been nominated but unable to meet the requirements in Article Two may be a runner up for the award.
8. The winner and if any runners ups, will be determined by a majority vote of the committee members and all other recommendations will be destroyed at that time.
9. The Chair of the committee will be responsible for having the trophy properly engraved and be made available for presentation at the proper time. The winner and the runners-up will be kept secret until the award is made.
10. The written recommendations of the Second, First runners up, if any, and the winner along with the trophy will be turned over to the President for the presentation or the President’s chosen designate which could be the Chairperson of the Award Committee.
A. The reading of the recommendations of the runners-up, if any, the recommendation and the presentation of the trophy of the winner will be made by the President or the President’s designate at an appropriate time during the program of the Society Annual Holiday Party or at the next regular meeting of the Society.
B. Any and all expenses will be paid from the Society’s general funds.
